Leonardo da Vinci drawing
(1452-1519)
"In the spring of 1505, Leonardo was invited to visit his uncle in the country. During the radiant spring days, Leonardo would stand on the green hill side of Fiesole looking up into the cloudless blue sky. As he watched the birds soaring in the air, he dreamed of a new type of flying machine. He was also passionately interested in the way the human body was constructed and while he was in Florence, he studied many human bodies. He drew the inside section of a skull and made a careful drawing of the heart, under which he wrote, "A wonderful instrument, the invention of the supreme master".
"As Leonardo examined the marvelous construction of the body, he came to appreciate more and more how precious human life was. "Let not your rage or malice destroy life - for indeed he who does not value it does not himself deserve it!" So wrote Leonardo, and from that day till his death he never designed another war machine." Elisabeth Ripely, Leonardo da Vinci. A Biography
As an admirer of this wonderful and brilliant artist I felt as he did, that human life is a precious and wonderful instrument, the invention of the supreme master, God.
